The Council’s message to the Government: medical age assessment in the asylum process needs to be objectively examined

The Council has sent a letter to the Department of Justice concerning medical age assessment in the asylum process, recommending the Government to objectively examine the process of medical age assessments. The aim is to ensure unaccompanied refugee children’s rights.

The Council assesses that there are several uncertainties regarding medical age assessments in the asylum process. Primarily, the question is whether the National Board of Forensic Medicine declares the risk of misjudging a child in an accurate way in the forensic statement.

The letter is only available in Swedish.
