Opinion on Medical age assessments in the asylum process – ethical aspects

The Swedish National Concil on Medical Ethics has published an opinion on the ethical aspects concerning medical age assessments in the asylum process. The use of medical age assessments raises several ethical questions regarding autonomy, the right to privacy, information, the importance of respect of human rights, including particular rights concerning children etc.

In this opinion the Council has formulated a number of recommendations.
