Recent years’ breaktrough in medicine and new digital techniques has caused a wave of innovation in health care technologies. The fast development provides new possibilities for individuals to engage in medical research and health care – as patients, research subjects, consumers or citizens. The phenomenom is called citizen participation.
The Swedish National Council on Medical Ethics has published a comment on an opinion on the ethical implications of new health technologies and citizen participation (opinion 29) from the European Group on Ethics in Science and New Technologies (EGE).
